Carl's Place Pipe Framing Kit for DIY Golf Enclosure
Skip the hardware store run. This is the pre-cut framing kit for the DIY enclosure, so you do not have to source and cut your own EMT conduit.
Every pipe comes cut and marked to match the frame diagram for your size. Skip this kit and Carl's cut sheet tells you exactly what to buy and cut locally.
Weighing the two? Here is what cutting your own 1 inch EMT actually costs and takes, and when this kit is the cheaper call.
Tools to assemble the frame: a 1/2-inch wrench or socket, a rubber mallet, a tape measure, and an 8-foot stepladder.
Measure before you pick a size
The listing size is a simplified name, not a measurement. Carl's publishes the actual outer dimensions, and they run bigger than the name. An 8x8 frame stands 100 inches tall and 100 inches wide, which is 8 feet 4 inches in both directions.
- 7.7 x 10: 95.8 inches high, 124.8 wide
- 7.7 x 13: 95.8 inches high, 163.3 wide
- 8 x 8: 100 inches high, 100 wide
- 8 x 10.5: 100 inches high, 130.3 wide
- 8.5 x 11.5: 107.5 inches high, 140.3 wide
- 9 x 12: 112 inches high, 146.3 wide
Depth runs 59.125 inches from the screen to the front frame on every size. Full footprint depth is 67.375 inches, because the backset rear fitting sits 8.25 inches behind the screen.
That rear fitting is the measurement people miss. Carl's requires a minimum of 8.25 inches between the screen and your back wall to fit it, and recommends 12 inches. Figures come from Carl's Place's own DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure Kit specification sheet.
